Need help classifying engine 78-?
Mar 7th, 2007, 9:43am

I just bought a 78 olds cutlass which has had an engine swap. The guy i bought it from says it is a 305 but i have no idea. I think it is a small block but i have read that i may be wrong. I'm not sure if it is an olds, chevy, or even a GM engine, and i really need help to figure this out so that i can get the right parts. I am not sure what all anyone will need to know about it so please bear with me. I know it is a V8 and thats all i am positive about. Dont know if this will help but the spark plugs are under the exaust headers, I beleve that it is a small block because the headers are not evenly spaced apart, I also know that the exaust outlets are kinda a square. Please help me out here.
Thank you very much for this much needed help!!!!!
